Set your height

Healthy weight ranges use the same WHO BMI thresholds for adult men and women.

Sex

The healthy BMI range is the same for adults of any sex. This keeps the calculator aligned with other BiteCheck tools.

How the healthy weight range is calculated

The calculator uses the World Health Organization's healthy BMI range of 18.5 to 24.9. To find your weight range, we multiply that BMI range by your height in meters squared. The result is shown in both kilograms and pounds so you can compare with your scale.

WHO BMI categories explained

  • Underweight (below 18.5): Potentially higher risk of nutrient deficiencies or low muscle mass.
  • Healthy weight (18.5–24.9): Generally associated with the lowest health risk for most adults.
  • Overweight (25–29.9): Mildly elevated risk, often managed with nutrition and activity changes.
  • Obesity (30+): Higher risk category where clinical guidance can be useful.

Important context

BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Athletic builds or higher muscle mass can push BMI upward without extra body fat. Meanwhile, older adults may have normal BMI but lower muscle mass. Consider tracking waist measurements, body composition, and how you feel alongside this range.
